Below is a description of each of these checks:

National Record Indicator with Sex Offender Index

The National Record Indicator is a database compiled of criminal records for 44 states and the District of Columbia. Information reported from the database can vary significantly from state to state. The National Record Indicator also includes State Sex Offender Registries from all 50 US states. As per FCRA Guidelines, any records that show on the NRI, will be confirmed on the county level.

Please note that criminal records from all states are not available on the Nationwide Record Indicator (for example: North Carolina Criminal records are no longer provided due to state legislation).

Statewide Criminal Record

A statewide criminal record investigation accesses a state Social Security Alert A social security alert reports any names that are associated with a Residency History A residency history provides a detailed account of an applicant’s maintained repository of criminal records that typically includes records from every county courthouse in a state. Sources for the information vary from state to state and are subject to change.

County Criminal Search — Seven Year

County criminal records are the building block of a thorough background investigation as they are the most accurate and up-to-date records on file. A county criminal record search reveals whether an applicant has criminal records within a particular county. County criminal records include both misdemeanor and felony convictions, as well as pending charges. The residency history report provides the information needed to search all counties of residence within the past 7 years for criminal records.

Nationwide Federal Criminal Search

Nationwide federal record search will disclose offenses from all of the 94 Federal District Courthouses nationwide. Federal laws govern crimes more severe in nature than those under the county or the state jurisdiction. These offenses cover convictions such as embezzlement, child pornography, kidnapping, fraud, etc. It also includes any crime, even minor, that is committed crime on federal property such as a military base camp.

U.S. Patriot Act

The Nationwide Patriot Act Name Search includes the following US and foreign sanctions and watch lists: OFAC Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) & Blocked Persons, OFAC Sanctioned Countries including Major Cities & Ports, Non-Cooperative Countries and Territories, Department of State Trade Control (DTC) Debarred Parties, US Bureau of Industry & Security, FBI Most Wanted Terrorists & Seeking Information, FHI Top Ten Most Wanted, INTERPPOL Most Wanted List, Bank of England Sanctions List, OSFI – Canadian Sanctions List, Politically Exposed Persons List, European Union Terrorism List and World Bank Ineligible Firms.

Social Security Alert

A social security alert reports any names that are associated with a particular social security number. particular social security number.

Residency History Report

A residency history provides a detailed account of an applicant’s prior addresses and establishes a road map of where to search for an applicant’s criminal history.

Motor Vehicle Report

A motor vehicle report provides information on the driving license status of an individual. Included information is:

  • Current status of driver’s license (valid/revoked/suspended)
  • Issue and/or expiration date of a driver’s license
  • Class or Type of license (personal or commercial class)
  • Endorsements or Restrictions to the currently valid license
  • Violations of which the driver was convicted (within a certain time frame determined by each state)
  • Suspensions/cancellations/revocations (within a certain time frame determined by each state)
  • Sometimes accidents may show (will not indicate fault)
  • Some states will report the current total point balances.

LabCorp 10 Panel Urinalysis

Applicants will directed to a local lab with which KidsSafe contracts to provide a urine sample, which is then tested for these substances: amphetamine, barbiturates, benzodiazepine, cocaine, marijuana, methadone, methaqualone, opiates.
